Where there is a Will…

11 May 2017

Blog, Wills and Probate

…There is a way – your way!

If you pass away without a Will, it means you have died “intestate” and the rules of intestacy determine how your property (basically everything you own) is distributed upon your death. Only blood relatives will inherit under the rules of intestacy: not unmarried partners or friends.

Sometimes it can prove difficult finding entitled beneficiaries under the Intestacy Rules resulting in the need for tracing agents to be instructed, the cost of which would come out of your hard earned cash.

Ensuring that your estate will not be subject to the rules of intestacy is simple: just make sure you’ve got a legally binding Will in place before you die and then your estate can be distributed the way you want it to.
