Barney Murphy was born in Liverpool and studied law at Sheffield University. Articles, as they were known then, where taken in Nottingham and he qualified in 1980. Having settled on the south bank of the Humber in 1980 he has lived there ever since. Initially a family lawyer he joined Williamsons in 1993 and moved into the defence advocacy department shortly after, an area of law that he continues to specialise in.
