Tim Slow, solicitor in our Clinical Negligence department, was involved with the case of Mark Wymer, 47, who sadly passed away due to doctors not performing the simple test to detect a blood clot in the body.
The article, which can be seen on the Daily Mail website here, states how Mark Wymer was displaying symptoms of a blood clot and was given a series of tests but not a D-Dimer which could have detected a clot, and was then later discharged from the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, London.
Only 36 hours later, Mark had tragically lost his life due to a pulmonary embolism. The post mortem examination found a number of small blood clots in his body, and his death could have been avoided had the D-Dimer test been done.
Mark’s wife and son were awarded £50,000 once the hospital admitted to negligence 3 years after Mark’s death. Mark’s wife, Jo, was heartbroken and stated “no amount of money will bring Mark back, but now we finally feel we have justice for him.”
