Mesothelioma claim settled for asbestos exposure

Our Industrial Disease Team has successfully settled a claim for Mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos fibres within Hull’s shipping industry.

The case concerned a gentleman who was employed to work at as a welder across various shipyards within the Hull area during the 1960’s and 70’s. As part of his job he was required to strip pipes of asbestos lagging with little more than a welders mask to protect him.

The gentleman lived a relatively normal life and did not develop symptoms until many years later. He was not formally diagnosed with Mesothelioma until June 2012, some 35 years after his exposure to asbestos ceased. Unfortunately the gentleman’s life was sadly cut short as a result of his exposure to asbestos and he passed away during the course of his claim.

Williamsons Solicitors were however able to continue with the claim on behalf of his family. The gentleman also instructed Williamsons’ Wills and Probate Department to deal with his affairs both before and following his passing.

Whilst no amount of money can be placed on a life; the gentleman in question was reassured that his family would be financially cared for after his passing.
