Tenancy at Will

A tenancy at will is a form of occupation agreement.  The most important feature of a tenancy at will is that either party may bring the agreement to an end at any time.

The tenant under a tenancy at will cannot assign the tenancy at will to a third party.  Generally, tenancies at will are only suitable for short term arrangements, and there can be difficulties where a tenancy at will has not been properly drawn up, which can lead to it being another form of tenancy (known as a periodic tenancy) which, if so, would make the arrangement more difficult to bring to an end and longer notice periods may be required.
