A minor was injured riding his scooter along a public footpath and was compensated £4,400

11 April 2018

A (a minor) was injured whilst riding his scooter along a public footpath. The front wheel of the scooter became caught in a hole which had been dug by a local utility company, and which they had failed to fence off and make safe.

As a result he suffered a fractured finger which, despite him recovering from the initial effects within 6 weeks, resulted in a permanent change to the sensation in his finger and heightened sensitivity to the cold. Liability for his accident was admitted and A was awarded £4,400.00 in compensation for his injuries.
