Bridlington Old Town Dickensian Festival 2014

28 November 2014

News

Last week Bridlington celebrated the life and works of Charles Dickens at this year’s Bridlington Old Town Dickensian Festival 2014.

Despite the torrential downpours, the day carried on as normal with a great turn out. There was a march up the High Street by the Beverley Pipe Band, led by town mayor councillor Shelagh Finlay and town crier David Hinde.

The event saw appearances from Coastal Voices choir, The Chantons a – 30-piece brass band and Bridlington Cadet Drummer. There was also stalls which sold unique hand-made gifts and offered festive treats such as roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, as well as a Santa’s Grotto.

Bridlington town crier, David Hinde, said: “It was a great success even though we had a lot of rain.

People were saying it was wonderful, and I think it was one of our biggest and best yet.

I’d like to thank all the sponsors and everyone who helped set up everything for the day – without them the event couldn’t have gone ahead.

Williamsons Solicitors sponsored the Street Organ which could be heard throughout the day.
