Solar Gate Sculpture Arrives in Hull

15 August 2017

Our Community

As part of our City of Culture’s £25m project, a stunning 10-metre high sculpture has arrived in Hull City Centre.

So, what’s the purpose of the sculpture?

Arriving at Queen’s Gardens last night, the sculpture is set to be lifted into place this morning – all ready to revamp the city…

By illuminating at night!

Wondering about the features of the sculpture?

Over the next few weeks, the team installing the sculpture will put up a decorative steel ring and steel dated disks to complete the overall look of the city’s stunning sculpture.

Tony Schultz, who is the managing director of the company responsible for this iconic idea, told the Hull Daily Mail that he hopes this will be Hull’s very own ‘Angel of the North’.

He comments:

“It’s got everything,” he said. “It’s impressive in its own right but when you stand back and look at it, you really just see how awesome it is.”
