Williamsons Solicitors has remained in the position as Hull and East Yorkshire’s top criminal law firm.

The defence advocacy department here at Williamsons has just been ranked as the region’s leader in the Legal 500, the national law guide.

Our criminal defence advocacy department regularly receives instructions relating to major criminal cases, road traffic and regulatory defence work, through our offices in Hull, Bridlington and Driffield.

The department is led by Director Bill Waddington, and has a highly experienced team of Solicitors (some of whom are also Higher Courts Advocates, meaning if a case goes to the Crown Court, the same Advocate can deal with you from start to finish), and they are supported by a team of experienced Accredited Police Station Representatives whose job it is to assist the lawyers in the work at the Police Stations and also in the preparatory work when matters are at Court.

Director Bill Waddington, who is about to begin his third year as Chairman of the Criminal Law Solicitors Association, a national organisation representing criminal solicitors and firms across the country, said: “Despite the unwelcome distraction of the government’s proposed drastic changes to legal aid, Williamsons Solicitors continues to provide an excellent level of service and expertise to our clients. This recognition is very much a result of a team effort.

As well as defence advocacy being successful, our clinical negligence department has also been rated highly in the Legal 500, as one of the leading departments in the region. The clinical negligence department, led by senior solicitor Tim Slow, is the only one based in Hull and the surrounding area with solicitors approved by Actions against Medical Accidents (AvMA) and Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme.
