It was a big night for boxing in Hull last Saturday night. Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle fought their way to victory, bringing exciting discussion amongst people in the city that Campbell and Coyle will meet in a mega-show in Hull next year.

The whole evening was a success, with another win from local boxer Connor Seymour, who fought against opponent Dee Mitchell with a 39-38 points victory.

Having won a large majority of his amateur fights, 22 year old Seymour’s win on Saturday was his second professional fight, with his professional debut back in May this year, which he drew against Essex fighter Danny Brown. His next fight will be on 20th December at Hull City Hall.

Williamsons Solicitors sponsored Seymour on Saturday evening.

Seymour said: “All day on fight night I felt pretty calm and collected, not too nervous even when I arrived at the venue.  I still wasn’t nervous when I got my hand wrapped and got gloved up. It then hit me, nerves went through the roof as I was called out to make my ring entrance. The arena was pretty empty but the support I had there was amazing and they were really loud. I loved the ring walk, really enjoyed it.

I got into the ring to see Dee Mitchell. Round 1 was a good round, I was trying to figure the guy out a little but I won the round comfortably. Round 2 was probably my best round, I hurt Dee with a body shot at one point and caught him with a few nice uppercuts, the third round was a very close round both having our success. Then the last round was a hard round with my fitness not been fully there due to having a short training camp after I was on holiday, but I dug deep and me and Dee stood toe to toe and traded for the majority of it, it was a great fight, a very hard one but I learnt a lot from it.

I cannot wait to be back in the ring on December 20th as I am always going to be improving and getting better every fight.”
