Mr Kin Kong – Knee Replacement Error

27 June 2017

Clinical Negligence, News

Claimant X needed to have revision surgery only 5 years after her initial total knee replacement, she suspected something had gone wrong with the earlier surgery performed by Mr Kin Kong, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

The Claimant underwent a total left knee replacement in 2012, under the Defendant Trust. It is alleged that the component that was fitted was too small, causing severe pain and suffering for approximately over 5 years.  The Claimant has suffered an extended period of pain and restriction of movement to her left knee and has had to undergo a further corrective operation to replace the component.

Clinical NegligenceWe are aware that Mr Kong worked at King George Hospital, Ilford & Queen’s Hospital, Romford between 2004 – 2012.  From October 2012, he worked at the North East London Treatment Centre.  We believe that the poor surgical technique by Mr Kong and failure to follow standard practice in relation to the Claimant, is not isolated to her treatment only.  However, it may take time for other patients to become aware of avoidable problems with their treatment.
