New fees for Lasting Powers of Attorney

2 May 2017

Blog, Wills and Probate

All Lasting Powers of Attorney must be registered with the Office of Public Guardian before they can be used by the appointed Attorney. There is a Court fee payable for each Lasting Power of Attorney that is to be registered. Madeleine St John

From 1st April 2017, the fees for applying to register Lasting Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Attorney have been reduced from £110 to £82.

The government hopes that cutting the fees will encourage more people to take out LPAs as they can be vital documents to have. In particular, they allow you to plan for a future when you may not be able to make your own decisions and as such provide peace of mind for individuals and their families.

If you would like more information on Lasting Powers of Attorney or would like to instruct Williamsons to prepare the documents for you, please do not hesitate to contact the Wills and Probate department on 01482 323697.
