Williamsons Solicitors sponsors the Bridlington Dickensian Festival

Williamsons Solicitors were proud to have sponsored the Bridlington Dickensian Festival, which organisers say that this year’s event was one of the best ever.

Thousands of people flooded Bridlington’s Georgian streets for the annual event, which has always heralded the beginning of Christmas celebrations for the town.

The event saw more than 60 stallholders selling a range of quality Christmas goods, a number of street entertainers including singers, musicians, A Victorian street organ, a brass band, Morris dancers and buskers. Live music was also on offer, along with a display of birds of prey, pig racing, a Victorian tug of war and children’s tea cup rides while reindeers and Santa’s Grotto were a hit with the kids. The ‘What the Dickens’ theatre company made their debut at the festival with a short Victorian melodrama – ‘Ah, Cruel Fate!’

Bridlington Town Crier David Hinde opened the event with a cry at 12 noon. He said: “There must have been thousands of people turn out, it was a great day.

Katie Christlow of the Queen’s Hotel, who was part of this year’s organising committee, said: “It was a fantastic turnout. It was a really good day, everyone enjoyed themselves.”

“I’d just like to say thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success.”
