Disabled Access Day

16 March 2023

News

Disabled Access Day (DAD) on March 16th is an important date to mark the progress being made in making venues, facilities and opportunities more accessible to those with a disability. It was begun by Euan’s Guide, a disabled access charity, in 2016 to shine a light on the importance of inclusivity and to spur on further progress. DAD recognises that it is vital for those with a disability, whatever that disability may be, to be able to access any space, whether that be a workspace, public spaces, transport or most importantly, their own home.

Here at Williamsons, we wholeheartedly support Disabled Access Day. We strive to be inclusive and to meet the needs of all of our clients, such as by ensuring that we have ramped access to our office for those with mobility difficulties or by providing large print for those sight issues. Within our compensation department, our Senior Solicitors, Nick Gray, Sarah Jackson, Jim Suthers, Wayne Walker and Sarah Webster act for clients where disability access is of the utmost importance, whether it be through Clinical Negligence, an accident at work or a Road Traffic accident. We have extensive experience in helping our clients to have the access that they deserve; one such example of this is by securing compensation to purchase accessible accommodation and assisting with the purchase and adaptation of such accommodation.

Our team has recently secured a sizeable award of compensation for a client who has undergone an avoidable amputation of their leg, so that an accessible bungalow can be purchased. It has also been arranged for an accessible short term rental property to be secured for the client in the meantime, so that they were able to move out of accommodation which was unsuitable for their needs.

Should you require assistance from any of our Solicitors, or any other member of our team, please contact us on 01482 323697.
