What does the new Conservative Government mean for the property sector?

29 May 2015

News

With regards to property, part of the Conservative party manifesto was very much focused on the ‘Help-to-Buy’ Scheme with the aim being to build 200,000 starter homes for first time buyers under 40 and Help-to-Buy ISAs to help young people get on the property ladder.

In addition to the above, there has also been increased focus on land and development. This is illustrated by the fact that the Conservatives have made available a £1bn brownfield regeneration fund which will enable 400,000 additional new houses to be built over the next five years.

From a property perspective, the above are welcomed. It is clear that their aim is to encourage those developers, who fell to hard times when the recession struck in 2007, to have the confidence, and encouragement, to buy land and develop.
