The NHS and it’s “wall of silence”

Tim Slow, Senior Solicitor in our Clinical Negligence department comments on the article featured in the Independent. The article discusses how internal investigations are not reliable or consistent when it comes to avoidable, harmful or fatal cases. This leaves questionning family members met with an “NHS wall of silence” as to what happened to their loved ones .

“It is to be hoped that following the passing of the Act imposing a statutory duty of Candour (which came into effect in October 2014) requiring NHS providers to be open and transparent with patients and/or their families about their care and treatment, including when it goes wrong, stories like this one will become a thing of the past.”

At Williamsons, we have dealt with a number of claims arising out of Neo Natal and other deaths, due to mismanagement of treatment and care. If you have any concerns about treatment received by you or your loved ones, please feel free to contact us for advice and assistance.
