Severely brain damaged 8 year old boy receives £9 million in compensation

10 July 2015

News

An 8 year old boy with severe brain damage caused at birth resulting in his inability to walk, talk or do many other things an 8 year old boy would do has been successful in obtaining £9 million in compensation. The injury occurred at the time of his birth under the care of Bedford Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust admitted liability early in the case and made an apology, through their legal representatives.

During negotiations, difficulty arose surrounding his schooling but that was resolved and now his parents will be able to afford the care and equipment he desperately needs as a lump sum amount and yearly payments awarded.

Wayne Walker, one of our specialist Clinical Negligence Solicitor’s stated “These cases are very complex. It is necessary to predict all the eventualities that this young boy may face for the remainder of his life to enable those caring for him to afford to help him live a life with the best possible aids and equipment. The family can now be a family rather than carers as the compensation will assist with paying for outside help.”
