Williamsons Solicitors are enabling their clients to play a part in resolving their own disputes after strengthening its mediation team.
Mediation is commonly used by separating couples to reach agreements about their children or finances. Couples are given the opportunity to have a confidential appointment with a professional mediator who will help them to reach their own agreements, removing the need for costly and often lengthy court cases as well as protecting individuals from having their private affairs dealt with within the court system.
Karen Saunders is at the forefront of promoting mediation as a constructive means of resolving family disputes. Karen is a specialist family lawyer who has been qualified as an accredited mediator since 1999 and has recently been joined by Paul Kirby who is a family lawyer of many years experience.
Sarah Clubley Head of the Family Department said historically the way of dealing with family disputes was in the courts however the past decade or so there has been an increased awareness that going to court can take a lot of time and can be expensive and this is not ideal. Karen has been dealing with mediation for many years and has found that for many couples it is a successful way of resolving disputes.
