New solicitor the perfect fit for leading wills and probate team

Williamsons Solicitors has gained a new solicitor in its wills and probate department following the qualification of Rachael Scott.

Ms Scott completed an 18-month training contract with the East Yorkshire firm which commenced in the department and cemented her desire for using law to help people navigate difficult times.

“You need to be professional, sensitive and supportive,” said Ms Scott who is working from Williamsons’ head office in Hull. “I am a ‘people person’ and this area of law allows me to build relationships with clients and become a trusted confidante, while helping to meet their needs with the appropriate advice and guidance.”

“I am committed to working in wills and probate and very much enjoy the variety it brings.”

Ms Scott took a degree in law at the University of York before completing her Legal Practice Course and Masters in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Law, Leeds. She also gained experience working at another firm as a paralegal before commencing her training at Williamsons.

“I’ve had fantastic levels of support at Williamsons and I’ve appreciated learning from the senior solicitors while immersing myself in the department’s day-to-day work,” she added.

Jane Cousins, a director at Williamsons Solicitors and head of the wills and probate department, said that training with Rachael had been a pleasure. “She has exactly the right personality and the right approach to looking after clients. She is eager to learn and diligent. We all look forward to watching her career develop at the firm.”

The eight-strong department looks after people all over East Yorkshire from its Hull headquarters and branch offices in Beverley, Driffield and Bridlington. It advises on will writing, trusts, estate protection and planning, power of attorney, court of protection, probate, administration of estates and will disputes.

The celebration of Ms Scott’s qualification has been put on hold due to COVID-19, but she plans to arrange a special meal out with her family once restrictions are lifted.
