Hull’s Historic Blade

Could Hull’s Historic Blade become a permanent feature?

A Re-cap on ‘Blade’

Conceived by artist Nayan Kulkarni, The 75m wind turbine blade arrived in Hull City Centre back in early January this year.

By many, Blade was seen as a bold and beautiful feature in Hull. Others, thought differently and were glad to see the piece of artwork leave.

Blade was one of the first in a series of major art commissions that are set to be installed in public spaces around Hull as part of Look Up, a year-long programme for Hull 2017 that will see different artists creating temporary artworks designed to make people look at and experience the city in new ways.

I think we can all agree that our City of Culture has already brought us a variety of artistic and interesting events to the city.

And it’s not stopping there…

Plans have been submitted for Blade to go on public display again with a new location in mind.

A planning application has been submitted for the Blade to sit at the entrance of the Siemens site in Alexandra Dock, Hull.

Approval for the plans would see the Blade – one of the first manufactured at the factory which opened in December 2016 – once again on display to members of the public.
