Natasha wins Apprentice of the Year award

East Riding College’s annual apprenticeship awards ceremony was held during National Apprenticeship Week to celebrate the contribution that apprentices are making to the region’s businesses and to recognise the employers that are supporting them. The prestigious event, held at Beverley Racecourse, saw over 100 guests celebrate the hard work and dedication of the apprentices and their employers.  Apprentices were nominated by their assessors and employers, with the twelve Apprentice of the Year winners selected from over 400 apprentices training with the College.  Businesses were nominated by the College’s Business Development team, in recognition of their contribution and commitment to training apprentices.  Outstanding contribution awards were nominated by employers themselves, honouring their apprentices for making an outstanding contribution to their business.  Winners ranged from younger apprentices to adult apprentices.

Of particular note was Bridlington apprentice Natasha Tait, aged 19, who won Apprentice of the Year in the Customer Service and Warehousing category.  Natasha works at Williamsons Solicitors and was commended for her hard work and enthusiasm.  She has already progressed from general office assistant to secretary in the property department.

Suzanne Spooner, Branch Manager at Williamsons in Bridlington said, “We are extremely proud of Natasha for winning the award she has a very bright future ahead.  She has progressed since joining us and I would recommend employing apprentices to other organisations, as not only are you investing in their future, you’re also investing in the future of your own business.”

Natasha, aged 19 from Bridlington said, “It was a fantastic surprise and I was really chuffed to be nominated by my assessor and to go on to win the award.  When they said it was out of hundreds of apprentices, I felt really proud.”
