Wear It Pink 2025 – Raising Awareness of Breast Cancer

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place every October and as part of this, on 24 October, people across the UK will be pulling on something pink as part of Breast Cancer Now’s Wear it Pink day. From offices to schools, fundraisers to family gatherings, “Wear It Pink” has become a standout day for showing support, raising money, and sparking conversations about breast cancer.

Wear It Pink Clothes

It may look like a bit of fun with pink wigs, cakes, and ties, but behind the colour is a serious message. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK, with around 55,000 women and 400 men diagnosed every year. That’s nearly one person every 10 minutes.

Working in a clinical negligence department, we often see the devastating impact when cancers, including breast cancer, are not diagnosed or treated in time. Delays in referrals, missed symptoms, or failures to act on scan results can all mean the difference between the illness being curable or incurable.

A splash of pink, a serious impact

At first glance, an office full of people wearing pink or cupcakes might just look like a bit of fun, but those small gestures are part of a nationwide movement that has raised over £39 million since 2002 for Breast Cancer Now, funding vital research and support services.

For those of us working in the legal sector, taking part is also a way to show solidarity with clients who may have faced not only a diagnosis but also the added challenge of medical errors along the way. It’s a reminder that behind every case there is a person, a family, and a story of courage.

Getting involved

  • Wear it – Whether it’s a scarf, a tie, or head-to-toe neon pink, every splash of colour counts.
  • Bake it – (Because let’s be honest, pink-iced cakes make every workplace better.)
  • Share it – Use social media to raise awareness, donate, and remind friends and colleagues to check themselves regularly.
  • And most importantly; if you notice any changes to your breasts, lumps, skin changes, discharge, or pain, speak to your GP straight away. Do not wait. Do not dismiss it. Early action saves lives.

This 24 October, the Williamsons Clinical Negligence Team will be wearing pink, baking cakes and raising awareness across social media, to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join us in spreading the message and showing your support! Whether it’s a pink ribbon on your jacket or a hot-pink jumper bright enough to light up the office, remember, the colour is fun, but the cause is vital. Together we can raise awareness, support research, and help ensure fewer people are affected by breast cancer negligence in the future.
