Williamsons Solicitors would like to offer their congratulations to the team behind the bid to make Hull the UK’s City of Culture 2017.
The news was confirmed this morning after the city fended off rivals Leicester, Dundee and Swansea Bay for the right to hold the title in four years’ time.
Williamsons Solicitors Director, Bill Waddington said, “How rewarding for a City which is often castigated unjustifiably for shortcomings by people who have never taken the trouble to visit.
“Now I hope they will. Then they can see for themselves what a jewel of a city this is, steeped in history, full of culture and above all inhabited by a friendly and welcoming population.
“Those years of hardship from the immense destruction in the 2nd World War to the devastation of the fishing industry in the 80’s can now be assigned to history as we all look towards a very well deserved brighter future.
He added, “Congratulations to all those who worked so hard. Congratulations to the people of Hull”
